Cultural Change

ABOUT CULTURAL CHANGE:
A Global Exchange of Ideas

www.culturalchange.ca is a website that aims to open a conversation between many people about cultural change all over the world. The foundation of the conversation is the book Artists, Patrons and the Public: Why Culture Changes, by Barry Lord and Gail Dexter Lord, published in 2010 by AltaMira press.

The website is also a place to explore many of the ideas sparked or being put into play by the well-known cultural consultancy Lord Cultural Resources- the largest museum planning firm in the world, founded in 1981, by Barry Lord and Gail Dexter Lord. The Lords and the staff at the 5 offices of Lord Cultural Resources in Toronto, New York, Paris, Madrid and Beijing are leading projects at the forefront of cultural change. When planning a new cultural institution or an expanded one for any of our hundreds of projects worldwide, we are often in the position of anticipating how the public, patrons and artists will act and react decades into the future. Looking into the future relies on a canny sense of the present and a healthy respect for the past.

We don't like just to keep our ideas and thoughts to ourselves, nor do we think we have a monopoly on all the good ones. So we've created this forum to have a broader, more global exchange of ideas.
